See exciting design proposals for Worcester Street transformation

Residents, shoppers, retailers, and workers are invited to visit us in Exchange Square, opposite the Town Hall on Thursday 3 August between 2pm and 5pm to see the new design proposals which will see the regeneration of Worcester Street, Kidderminster town centre.

This transformation will replace the former Woolworths, Megavalue, Poundland and Sigma Aquatics buildings which have been cleared and will have a phased demolition over the coming weeks.

These new proposals have been brought forward by North Worcestershire Economic Development (NWedR) on behalf of Wyre Forest District Council.

The transformation of this area of town is being made possible through the government’s Future High Streets Fund (FHSF). The project is focused on improving the appearance and connection of this area of town with Bromsgrove Street and the wider Lionfields development site. It will also create improved access to the new Creative Hub currently being created in the former Magistrates Court.

The transformation will be achieved by the creation of a new high quality tiered public space, which will improve the experience for residents, businesses and visitors and attract further inward investment.

Councillor Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member of Economic regeneration, Planning, and the Green Agenda said:

“We are looking forward to hearing what residents and businesses say about our proposed design plans for this area of the town centre. We would like to thank our design contractors McBains and Ares Landscape Architects for their considerable effort, consideration, and expertise to get the project to this stage.”

The next step following this consultation is to bring forward a planning application.
