From Recession to Success

AP Insurance Brokers were quite surprised to be announced as one of the 12 winners for the 2019 ‘Celebrating North Worcestershire’ calendar.  The company’s owner, Andy Phillips said “My brothers thought it was very funny that I would be ‘Mr July’ but it’s great to be one of many companies doing so well in such a great growth area as North Worcestershire.”

Setting up a new business in the middle of a recession with no clients might not seem the best of ideas, but that is exactly what Andy Phillips from AP Insurance Brokers did in 2011.  Andy had been working in the “big company” world for over 25 years and decided that he wanted to build his own business based on his own values and client centric approach.

Andy told us “It was a tough few years at the start but the hard work has paid off and we are now seeing year on year growth, with more clients being referred to us each month.”  The company started in Bromsgrove in 2011 using a serviced office, moved to larger offices in 2013 and last year purchased their own offices in Redditch, which is Andy’s home town. “Many people find Redditch a difficult place to navigate but it’s a great town and is ideally placed to reach clients in Worcestershire and beyond” he added.

AP Insurance Brokers provides bespoke insurance advice to many different types of client, largely in the medical sector but also in manufacturing, distribution and the professions.  They have clients throughout Worcestershire and as far afield as London, Cornwall, Scotland and the Channel Islands.

They give advice on and arrange many different types of insurance including property, liability, medical malpractice, professional indemnity, motor fleet and cyber, as well as home insurance for high value home owners that need more personal advice.  “We are frequently reminded that businesses are looking for help and guidance when it comes to insurance.  Cheapest is not always the best when it comes to paying out on a claim and having an independent broker in your corner can be really valuable.  We will make an honest assessment about the insurance our clients must have, should have and could have – this allows them to make an informed choice,”
